Hugues Sweeney

President, Thinkwell Studio Montréal

As President of Thinkwell Studio Montréal, Hugues leads his team to deliver large-scale immersive experiences for an international client base. With a decentralized management style, he thrives on collaboration in developing new products, processes and markets.

  • With nearly 30 years of experience in interactive media, Hugues’ approach has always been content first. Whether developing a radio station, an app, or multisensory experience, he sees his projects as a means of interpreting the world, and new technologies as tools to get there. Forming a successful digital storytelling blueprint early on in his roles at Radio-Canada and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), Hugues’ productions have received over 150 global awards and distinctions, including at SXSW, Webby, Japan Media Arts, Creative Review, and NUMIX.

Hugues also co-founded and led the interactive production at the National Film Board of Canada, redefining documentary in the internet age. As an active member of the arts and culture community, Hugues acts as vice-president of Montréal Arts Council (CAM) Board of Directors and is Co-President of the Culture Montréal’s Digital Committee and Co-President of XN Québec.
